Magasini t\u00e4naval on ehitust\u00f6\u00f6de k\u00e4igus avastatud kaks kirikut, arvukalt matuseid ning keskaegsed j\u00e4\u00e4tmekastid.
\nVarasem on 15. sajandil rajatud \u00f5igeusu P\u00fcha Nikolai kirik, teine aga 16. sajandil rajatud jesuiitide kirik. M\u00f5lemad on hiljem maha j\u00e4etud ja ilmselt ka tules h\u00e4vinud. P\u00fcha Nikolai kirik Liivi s\u00f5ja ajal, jesuiitide kirik t\u00f5en\u00e4oliselt 17. sajandi alguse Poola\u2013Rootsi s\u00f5dades.
\nVanimast, Liivi s\u00f5ja eelsest kirikust on s\u00e4ilinud ka \u00fcks erilisem osa: v\u00e4ike seinamaaling, mida n\u00e4ete siin \u00fchel pildil. Hilisemast perioodist, 16.\u201317. sajandist, on leitud paarsada matust, millest m\u00f5nel on s\u00e4ilinud ka kirstud v\u00f5i isegi fragmente tekstiilist, millega lahkunu hauda s\u00e4ngitati.

\nThe earlier church of the two is the 15th-century Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas. The later one, built after the Livonian War, is a Jesuit church from the 16th century. Both were eventually abandoned and destroyed by fire \u2013 St. Nicholas during the Livonian War, and the Jesuit church most likely in the early 17th-century Polish-Swedish conflicts.
\nFrom the earlier, pre-Livonian War church, one special element has survived: a small wall painting, visible in one of the photos here. From the later period, the 16th\u201317th centuries, hundreds of burials have been uncovered, some still containing coffins or even fragments of textiles that once wrapped the deceased.
\nThe aforementioned refuse pits offer a rare opportunity to look into the everyday life of medieval residents of Tartu \u2013 what they ate, what animals lived in the area, and what kinds of objects might have been found in their households.<\/p>\n
